Crosbys 4th Cup

Created by: bushmills61
Team: 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2024
Published: Mar. 29, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Crosby decides to chase a Cup with MacK, there's no point in keeping Letang or Malkin. I'd prefer Crosby stay, buy it would be cool to see 2 Cole Harbour boys lift the Cup together.
Moving Letang could also do for Karlsson what moving Burns did for him. Karlsson performs better when he's the undisputed leader on the back end.
In this scenario, Karlsson would likely become 'C', with Rust, Pettersson and either Rackell/Bennett/Teravainen wearing an 'A'
Picked Teravainen as a UFA because I figure Guentzel will want to stay in Carolina if they have a deep playoff run.

Does that mean the Habs can get more for Matheson?

Obviously MTL isn't going to overpay for Letang, easy decline.

It's unlikely the Avs trade Cale's brother and risk upsetting their star Dman. That said the value is more realistic than some on here (though arguably still too much). It would also only likely happen if something had gone horribly wrong with re-signing Mittlestadt and even then would need significant retention. Much more than in this trade.

Flyers doesn't need Smith, there is already too many players for RW spots. And i don't think he's worth early 2nd + 4th without full retention (not sure if even with full retention).
