Lines for tomorrow based on practice

Description
Maroon was practicing in a non contact jersey, but he was in pasta's spot on the 2nd line. I assume that means that it's just a maintenance day for Pasta and that Maroon won't be in the lineup.

Personally love the offensive lines, I think Beecher's speed does that third line a lot of good. And that needs to be the top 6 going into the playoffs. The Marchand-Coyle-Debrusk line need to get themselves going on their own, no more breaking them up to try and get each of them going individually.

Also love this version of the top 4. Unless we bring in someone like Hanifin this offseason, this is likely what the long term vision of the top 4 looks like. And Lindholm-McAvoy are absurdly good together so love them getting more time as a pairing.

Only thing I don't really love is Shattenkrik on his offside on the third pair, but that's a minor thing and the numbers of that pairing have been pretty good anyway.

The Leafs would decimate those lines lmao. Good luck stopping Matthews & Marner without a shutdown centre

Boston has beaten Toronto 6 times in a row including 4 this year for whatever reason. They’ve been leveraging outstanding goaltending and solid forechecking to consistently beat the more highly regarded Leafs

If that third line can get a forecheck going, that's a whole lot of bodies being thrown around.

I don’t believe splitting Beecher and Boqvist makes sense if the objective is to keep Boqvist at center.

Personally believe it makes more sense to move Brazeau to the third line, which makes it a big line and preps for when Maroon comes back.

Curious to see if JVR’s issue is based on issues with a pre-existing injury OR if he’s dealing with the ramifications of long COVID. His play has been an issue

Primarily because when you have two star players plus great goaltending and good overall depth, it builds into successful team building as opposed to teams that depend on highly regarded prospects who aren’t ready.

Braz has had stints on the third line and it hasn't stuck for whatever reason. I don't think Geekie and Frederic are good enough skaters to make up for Braz lack of speed like Boqvist and Beecher.

I have a feeling that JVR is likely done, or done as a regular in the lineup anyway. Less than impactful, his lack of speed is much more noticeable than Brazeaus. I would love to see them give Merk a chance at 3LW but I don't see it happening now.

I think if Monty is worried about faceoff match ups with Boqvist, he could toggle Beecher on that line for D-zone draws.

To me, it makes sense to put Boqvist on the third line … but I think they need to plan for when Maroon comes back.

I’ll also say that I want to see if JVR can get back his legs with rest, because frankly … his play (when on) is considerably better than any of our other options. My guess is he’s dealing with long COVID, but they really haven’t said anything about it

Best goalie tandem in the league, and two elite players at their positions in Pasta and McAvoy.

Agreed on Brazeau on the third line, it just hasn't been as seamless a fit as you'd think it would be. Geekie is pretty poor defensively and needs wingers that can support him, and Brazeau needs a speedier center to cover for him at times. I've been wanting them to give Beecher a try up there, excited to see how he looks.
