Wouldn't trade Drai straight up for that package.

It's a way to get rid of Russell contract and find a right winger for McDavid. Also a first I'd say it's a good trade Faulk is good defensively and offensively ! If you were to shop drai where would you trade him to and for who? I would try to never trade him but if a offer like this came up it'd be hard to say no

Obviously Drai is the big hitter in the deal, but Faulk is a very good dman and Carolina has replacements for him so they would be inclined to deal from strength to fill weakness. You're also getting a 1st rounder which should be a decent pick since Carolina isn't exactly awesome. Lindholm is a nice young player as well and shouldn't be overlooked in the deal. You also get to unload Russell's contract, which while he isn't terrible, at 4m it makes him underwhelming.

I understand the knee jerk reaction to say no since Leon was so good last year, but he really has you guys in a pickle at the moment. If a middle ground with him can't be reached, this wouldn't be the worst option.

I mean, you could post it here. But it wouldn't happen. That deal has too much in the way of defensive assets leaving CAR for them to want it.

Draisaitl for Faulk, Rask, and a 1st is more palatable for CAR. They have a slow and steady prospect growth model working nicely; no need to over-extend to get Draisaitl.

Drai could be a top 10 center. He is a 1st line player. You will get a ton.
