He’s got an NTC and is overpaid so good luck with that.

Agreed but they can’t afford to do anything else. Rangers would retain 50% if they can swing it.

Fair. He might get it then depending on his NTC list.

I can safely assume 7 of the teams on it lol.

If the Jackets were trading Z, you would be starting with Danielson, Edvinsson, and 2024 1st ++

Nah, just realistic. Z is no scrub. You are not going to trade for him with peanuts. He is only 26 and is signed for 5 yrs. To get him you would have to pay up.

It's about as logical as us demanding Jiricek, Johnson, 2024 1st++ for Seider lol.

Understandable, and yes he is a great player. But to think you’re getting a top end D prospect who went 6th, another high end C prospect who went 9, a possible lottery pick, and more for a guy who still has his blemishes is just as unrealistic.

Depends really. If Detroit is interested I can see NYR even taking back Fabbri and Maatta/Petry to make it work.

If you were going to trade Seider then yea I expect that is what you would ask for.

If the Jackets were trading Z it would be bc we were rebuilding. This is the exact type of return that would kickstart a rebuild. And if Detroit were trading for him then it means they are trying to get to the next level.

So you won’t acknowledge that 3 top 10-15 picks for a D who hasn’t played a full season in a long while is ludicrous. Don’t care if it “kickstarts” a rebuild, no franchise will willing part with that for a one player.

Which is the reason why the Jackets aren’t trading him🙂

He's equally as likely to be traded as Larkin.

Danielson, Edvinsson, and 2024 1st is rich for the player, but it's also not far off from realistic for how much it would take to make Columbus actually part with a guy who, at 26, is already the franchise's all-time leader among D-men in goals, assists, and points, regularly the best player on the ice, and likely next in line for the captaincy.

It's a little like the Boone discussion: yeah, the player is worth X, but to actually get him...well, how attached is your GM to his job?

Would you trade Fantilli + Mateychuk + 2024 1st for Larkin?

That’s the comparison. The best player on the team, the somewhat injured, underrated, leader, life blood. Doesn’t make sense either way. I agree it’s the same as trading Larkin. If you think my offer is ridiculous, this is the equivalent.

As I said, I think Danielson, Edvinsson, and 2024 1st is rich. I wouldn't expect Detroit to pay that, nor would I pay Fantilli + Mateychuk + a 2024 1st for Larkin. But why are we even discussing this? There's zero chance either player gets moved. My point was just that, like Boone, if you want to make the player available, you'd have to offer something completely insane like this. I'm not going to speculate what an actual acceptable offer for either Larkin or Werenski would look like.
