That's a lot to give up for 1 year of Bennett, especially to play him 3rd line

That's irrelevant to my point. Even Guentzel didn't get that

It's not irrelevant. You said thats alot to pay for one year of him. I signed up for 5.

He is the exact player we need.

You say that like Bennett is one of a kind, he's not. What exactly does he do that makes you think he's the exact player you need?

And no you traded all that for a rental, then proceeded to extend him after in your hypothetical

Can't win on this site.

Everything is either an egregious over pay, underpay or just ignored

1. I edit my last message to ask the question, what about Bennett makes you think he's the guy

2. Huh? I'm not saying Buffalo shouldn't try to upgrade their roster but you have to do that smartly and target players on teams that are selling if you are offering futures.

The combination of his skating ability, the edge he plays with, scoring ability, playoff success, ability to do anything he's asked, any role, anywhere. Not too old, won't cost too much.

I didn't trade the 2024 pick, I didn't trade kulich, ostlund, savoie, Benson, Quinn or peterka or even rosen. I'm very comfortable with this price

We need some dawgs

I think we are all willing Nico Sturm into the Sabres lineup next year at this point. Might be the most universally agreed upon trade between two teams on this website.

Ok I'll clarify, I thought you moved the 2024 1st and where it said "top 12 protected" I thought it was saying pick 12, since that's roughly where they will be picking this year. To me 12th OA + Krebs is definitely an overpayment. 2025 1st + Krebs not so much.

However since Florida is clearly a top contender I highly doubt they have any interest in moving him unless it's an upgrade.

If you're looking for a player like that to play 3rd line I would suggest someone like JG Pageau, as he is also quite solid defensively and should be much cheaper to acquire

Florida has to sign some guys. They aren't likely going to be able to resign him anyways, so I'd think they pay reinhart and lundell and keep verhaeghe

Whether the can re-sign him or not is irrelevant for next season though. Next season he's still on a very affordable contract and you don't let that go when you are contending
