Got a little bit unrealistic with the kk part, and dvorak. But I think a package of matheson Kovacevic and a late first makes sense for necas. Habs clear up their logjam on D while getting a top6 Forward. Canes get 2 Nhl D on good contracts while they have tons of free agents to deal with. I assume they will prioritize jarvis over necas.

Matheson and a pile of junk isn’t getting Necas. Canes wouldn’t want Matheson simply because he would be the Canes 3LD, and ultimately a scratch when Nikishin comes over. Slaf, Suzuki, or Caufield are the only targets that make sense for the Canes in a Necas move.

Matheson has the same amount of points as a defenseman, take a chill pill. Habs will only consider a 1 for 1 type of deal

If you exclusively go off points, and not take into account team needs, then yes, it would be fair 1 for 1. But for the Canes, they aren’t going to trade Necas to get someone that would play 3LD as the primary return. They can utilize a stopgap for the 3LD role until Nikishin comes over.
