Acciari should stay. He provides a much needed role on this team particularly, and he does it very well. His forechecking, physicality, and outstanding penalty killing are worth the $2 million dollar cap hit. He will play even better with more speed on his line, rather than Jeff Carter.

Lastly, St. Ivany, Poulin, and Gruden will be much closer to league minimum than what you’ve allocated for them. They very well could be in WBS next year.

As far as the Smith trade, they aren't retaining 2.5 mil on a guy to get back a 3rd. Saving 2.5 mil in cap space isn't making or breaking the team.
If they move him they aren't going to retain without the other team paying for the retention.
