Thoughts coming from a Lightning Fan

Kucherov trails MacKinnon by 3 points and McDavid is one behind Kucherov. The idea going around that Kuch is only a powerplay merchant is off base only trailing the leader by 3 and being ahead of McDavid. Downplaying his greatness on the PP isn't fair in his Hart campaign.

Hagel is a surprise this list. Everyone else here is considered a superstar and its awesome to see Hagel in the mix. He is extremely underrated. $6.5 million of the next 8 years has a chance to be one of the best contracts in the league in you look at the contracts everyone else on this list has.

Point seams like he will always be in the Marner and Barzal group and thats some elite company.

Other teams thoughts. Crosby is a timeless legend. Pasta is on an island by himself and should have more Hart conversation but the field is so deep.

Kucherov is an absolute assassin on offense ; 5v5 and power play. But hard to argue that he’s not worse than the others defensively, which prevents him from winning Hart imo.

Few thoughts:

1. I guess I was wrong by a lot when I said Hagel wasn't worth a first, regardless of how good his contract was.

2. Kuch is gonna win the Ross but not the Hart. It's a really close race, with three or even four guys deserving of it, but it's going to be the guy who doesn't have one yet. It's just how it works, and it's hard to argue that MacKinnon is somehow a poor choice.

3. I assume Jeannot just barely missed the cut

now take out 2nd assists which is a worthless point.

As far as Hart, it has nothing to do points. It's most valuable.
Does TB win games without Kucherov, yes. He's not carrying TB on his back and that's really the issue there.
No one looks at him that way, and until that changes no one is going to vote for him.

But you can't say the same when looking at other guys on that list, McDavid, Crosby for sure especially this year, Pasta has had the problem in the past of being surrounded by help. But maybe this year he gets more of a look with no Bergeron. For sure when Brad retires people will look at him more as the guy in BOS. I'd say his chances this year are as good as they have ever been.

Of course there is Mac as well. But I think the biggest issue there is the help he has as well. He's got just as much help as Kuch, hell he's got a 100pt player on his line. Although he's done more with it.
