TBL 24-25 keeping Stamkos v3
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>I'd rather not trade a #2D for a slightly overpaid 45P forward. Especially since the Flames will be looking to move forwards.
Anyways that's a terrible trade for CGY. I don't think you're going to trade us Sergachev for Mangiapane + Pachal + 3rd either.</div></div>
Well in fairness Sergachev is better than Andersson, Cirelli is better than Mangiapane, and Perbix is better than Pachal. So no the bolts wouldnt do that. The Andersson trade is much closer in value than this.

Its been glossed over how bad of a deal that is for Tampa. Hedman would never get traded but good lord thats an awful trade proposal.

Like the idea of moving Cirelli for a RHD. I did a similar one for Dobson. Filling in the 2nd line center is the part of this that makes it very hard. There aren't many players that do as much as Cirelli.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Matt1567</b></div><div>Cernak is one of the best defensive dmen in the league, not saying the offer isn't enough but personally I wouldn't trade Cernak to keep Stamkos, because it's only a matter of time before Stamkos regresses/retires, Cernak will help keep Tampa competitive for longer</div></div>
Cernak isnt on the team to be an offensive defenseman. Also there is plenty of cap space to bring back Stamkos without trading Cernak. Its just a matter of if management wants to give it to him. Cap isnt going to be the issue with keeping him.

You want to be gifted a top 4 right handed defensemen at 4 million a year for the next 7 years? lol this should go over well with Bolts fans

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>I don't understand why Hagel's cap hit had to be that high on a max term extension. At the time of signing he didn't have an extensive NHL resume and his production didn't warrant that cap hit. I understand the value of locking him up in his prime years, I just think they could have gotten him at like 5M instead.</div></div>
Hagel is 8th in the league this year in even strength points. That alone makes him worth that contract. On top of that he is one of the best defensive forwards on Tampa and the hardest forechecker and worker on the team. Very much worth his cap hit next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>Every year on CFACGM Tampa fans believe they can lowball their UFA's and they'll re-sign.
Coleman?
Signed with Calgary for highest offer.
Goodrow?
Rights traded to Rangers.
Palat?
Signed with NJ for highest offer.
Killorn?
Signed with Ducks for highest offer.
Now Stamkos?
For 3.5?
He's taking a 5 mil paycut?
OK
Hilarious how you're signing UFA Lindholm and Lowballing your franchise player Stamkos?</div></div>
But how many of those contracts are now being viewed as massive overpayments. Of the ones you listed only Coleman is bringing positive value. Tampa probably offered them what they are actually worth but other teams got caught up in the playoff runs and blew their load.

Duclair is looking to get paid I doubt he will come that cheap either chasing a cup or looking to regain their value on a 1 year deal. Someone like Beauvillier.
I think Tampa should try and keep Dumba, he won't cost too much to re-sign and he's fit in pretty well so far</div></div>
Idk what Dumba you have been watching but he has been a complete liability so far. Almost every time he touches the puck something bad ends up happening. Has been a massive disappointment so far.

Tampa hasn’t shown that they can be a contender this year so trading away any future assets is the problem. Duclair is good but he isn’t the missing piece.

They were playing 25/26 year old rookies whos ceiling are 4th liners/ 7th d man at best in chaffee, merela, koepke, fleury, myers, brown and others but had goncalves, finley, lilleberg, crozier, finley and groshev all who were way better and ready to play NHL games. This trade will age like milk once Thompson beats out calen addison for the PP1 spot and puts up 40 in his rookie season im calling it</div></div>
Carolina just got the best player at the deadline without giving up any of their top 5 prospects. But JBB gave up our best defensemen for a guy that refuses to play defense. It seems like every trade that has gone down so far has favored the team getting the player except for this one. Such a waste of assets

The value for duclair should have been a 3rd MAX and he just threw Jack Thompson in as a throw in, actually disgusting</div></div>
Mantha and Wennberg are both better players and the teams that got them gave up less. JBB loses every trade he makes except Hagel. I was very excited to see an offensive minded RHD and now he’s just gone. And the timing of doing this in the middle of a game that is proving this team isn’t a contender is just the cherry on top.

Personally I would be okay with being bad for a year or two in order for both of them to retire as Bolts. They given so much to this franchise I hope they never wear another jersey. 2026 could be a lottery pick at that point and we start the journey over again.

Some trades have aged worse like the Huberdeau- Tkachuk deal or the Dubois trade but those trades were seen as closer when the trade was made. The second the Jeannot trade was announced everyone knew it was terrible. Some trades have aged really well for JBB but overall I can't think of a single trade that he didn't overpay at the time of the trade</div></div>
Spot on. At some point we have to start asking if he is the answer at GM moving forward. I don’t think we are there yet but another year or so of this might be it for him.
