IMO, they can't keep Bertuzzi. Need to shore at RHD. Depending on Timmins and Jones to play big minutes to iffy. So instead of Bertuzzi and Jones at 6m. Maybe Tanev and a cheap or more likely Jarnkrok stays which still leaves 4.5m for a RHD by your post

Even if Domi goes to wing, Leafs need him as centre in case their is an injury to Matthews, Tavares, Holmberg or Kampf.
But you made a very reasonable post with a 22 man roster.

There could be a way, Bert if he really enjoyed it here could sign about 4.5 to 4.75 saving us about .5 million. Domi could sign between 3 and 3.5 if he really wanted to stay in TO. Saving another .5 million. Reaves can be sent down to the AHL 1.2 million. That gives us 2.2 million extra. Not bother with Jones and depending on injuries we now have about 3 to 3.5 million to work with. This could get us potentially Tanev added to the lineup giving better depth. Problem is goaltending. I like Talbot at 1.5 but hard to see if we can get him at 1.5.

As much as I argued a way to keep both, some insiders have felt Bert could sign for less than 5 with TO based on his season. Others feel he could still command between 5 and 6 on the open market. Ditto for Domi, some feel 3 to 3.5 entirely possible, other feels 4.5 to 5 on the open market possible. Of both want and can get the higher ends of the contracts. There is no way we can sign and keep both.

Either way, even if the two signed "low end" deals, it's having not enough cap two sign two needed Dmen.

If the leafs really are looking to make a topnotch defense they need to wait until JT comes off the books. 25-26 has a lot of top end d-men possibly becoming ufa's. Walker isn't going to be a difference maker to get to the cup final. Offer Bert and Domi extra term for less cap hit maybe they will take the contract.

As stated with one previous comment. It is possible but depends on how signings for defensemen go and our plans with Tre. If Tre wants to go after a bigger fish like Roy or Pesce then no. But if he decides to wait a year for Tavares to either leave or substantially lower his salary, we can possibly sign mid range defensemen and keep both. But we also need Domi to sign similar to his current salary and Bert to accept a good discount. Hard to see all these scenarios working out this while it is possible to keep both, I don't see. Merely pointing out that it could be possible.
