Description
Canadiens draft TIJ IGINLA 6TH OVERALL

Canadiens dump andersons contract, make space on defence by trading Barron along with him. They now have 22M of cap space. How about sign 2 veteran top 6 forwards to teach these kids to win and make us competitive? I think yes

Target: Duchene
When Duchene was a free agent rumours were that it was either Nashville or Montreal. He signed 8M in nashville. He had a 43G 43A 86P season then the next year his play dipped 22G 34A 56P. Still not bad but Nashville decided to buy him out. He then signed in Dallas for 3M and is going to get 70 points this year.

I say, pay him 6.5-7M for a 2 year contract. He has buyout money from nashville and gets to play for a team he was interested playing in his career at a time where they can use him. He can play with Dach on the wing or replace him if he gets injured. He can also be your 3C if thats a better fit. With the cap space the habs have I say a 2 year contract for a 60 point vet is a win.

Target 2: Monahan
Bring Monahan back on a short term 6M contract. I dont see a team giving monahan a longterm contract with his injury history. Sign Monahan for 6M 2 years and he will be a 50-65 point player who can play any position.

Sign Lane Hutson
At camp one of Hutson, Mailloux, Reinbacher makes the team. I think you have mailloux as a call up if someone gets injured and hutson makes the most sense starting in the NHL then AHL. The team needs a scoring defenceman and this is the year to give him a spot.

If for whatever reason, Anderson is unmoveable, You still have 4M of cap space with those veterans.

Easy no from SJ. It'll take the Jets' 1st I feel, but MTL shouldn't do that since cap space isn't an issue for them.

I agree with you I just feel like anderson will be a bad vibe on the team if he has the same season as 23/24. He's not a bottom pair checker and he cant play in the top 6. Maybe you can keep him if someone gets injured
