Description

A few assumptions here:
1. Adams and the organization aren't planning any large moves but are going to continue to grow from within the organization
2. Granato stays, that means Jokiharju will be sticking around as I think its a player Donny really likes. If he signs for under 4 mil then I'm okay with keeping him as a 2nd/3rd pair guy
3. Kulich, Rosen, and Savoie are all ready for the jump to the NHL, negating the need to bring in UFA forwards in the offseason or making trades to bolster the offense.
4. The Sabres really like UPL but are also cognizant of the presence of Levi in the organization and plan on doing a shared tandem like Boston has been doing. As such UPL gets a short deal that gets him to UFA status but gets paid like a fringe starter. I just don't see more money or term going to him as that would signal he would be the starter moving forward and that Levi would be backup.

This is the equivalent of doing nothing and hope the problem goes away. The only thing that would go away are the few people still buying tickets. The Sabres must know they have to do something to improve the team in the off-season. That should include bringing in a veteran leader of some kind. Ideally, one who is not on the verge of retirement and looking for one last 1 year deal. If they don’t change the coaching staff, they have to do something to the roster that shows they understand this team has deficiencies that need to be addressed.
