Pretty sure he still gets paid if he is scratched, so what does he care?

Most NHL players want to play hockey and not sit for a full season when they're not hurt or incapacitated.

Yea, if anything he'd be down with. 8.5 million to just sit around and do nothing? Sign me up

this is true, but when you are making 8.5 million why would you care

Doesn't seem to be a problem for Zibby since you want to shove him out the nearest airlock.

I wouldn't. But I don't have the same drive/hunger that it would theoretically take a person to make in the best league in the world.

I assume that he loves the game. If it's between sitting in a press box vs getting to do what you love in a great city like Nashville, why wouldn't you just move and go there

Maybe you're right. But I have to assume doing nothing for the next 6+ years would have to get old.

fair enough, point is like Senko and Giroux did with there NMC, if you threaten to scratch for all 82 games be prepared to be handcuffed for an absolute horrendous return

If you had to watch his gutless, pedestrian, lazy low effort play every night, you'd be mad that your team is paying him 8.5m too. The Rangers are doing well in spite of him, not because of him

He also just posted that Chytil's latest injury was a plot by the Rangers to circumvent the cap and he will be back for the playoffs. Tinfoil hat stuff.

Isn't that reason, the Preds just use they 6.5m of his cap and sign a UFA and not take Zib and don't give a pick.
I'm sure Zib's MMC stops any trade and if the Rangers want to bench for 82 games, well Zib agrees to that and not the trade.

He sucks and is a pedestrian low effort player who's just there to collect a paycheck.

Ummmm that last sentence is delusional. I looked at your flair, maybe you are still a little upset about Kreider?

What UFAs are on the market that can do what Zibanejad does at his best?

Nah don't worry bro i wasn't even 6 when the Kreider thing happened😂

Just saying cuz that 2022 serie was very close. And The Pens have that killer mentality right now. Altought it's unlikely, this could be an upset.

I predict Reinhart re-signs with Florida. They would be making a huge mistake to let him go.

Can you name a team would wants a 31 year old who isn't playing his best, for six full seasons.? No one. If Zib's isn 't motivated playing for the first place Rangers, why would any one think he's going to turn it around for another team?
I've always liked Zibs. Gotta think he's injured, though I'm often think long term contracts for players into their mid 30s is really iffy.

A team like Nashville might at a more reasonable price than 8.5 -- if they don't go far in the playoffs but don't quite want to rebuild, he could be an asset.

If he's injured I wish they would just sit him. This has been an issue all year long. I think what the Devils did to Jack Hughes by letting him play is extreme negligence and I'd be horrified to find out that Zibanejad needs surgery or something over the summer and that's why he's been playing poorly.

Hard agree on the long contracts. I don't know why the Rangers would do that.

They will be very handcuffed if they give him that money. And at 9.5, it seems like a lot for me. Still would do it. But if they can get him just under 9 it would be crazy good ( won't happen or maybe it does with the Florida effect. Look at Forsling)

Tarasenko Montour Lundell OEL and others all need to be signed. Tank seems like a rentak but who knows.

And Spencer Knight is making 4.5M.. While Luostarinen was given a 3X3 one offseason earlier. Could of saved a little more if they waited.

Bobrovsky is getting very old and his 10M surely don't help. Bennett probably walks next summer and Lundell takes that 2C role.

Say what you want but NSH would jump on Mika for a reasonable return that doesn't damage their future. They have hella cap and mid players filllng up the top6. The Zucker's Beauviller's Et.

You think they'd rather have a guy like Teddy Blueger than him? Zibanejad would certainly help. And it's not like he dissapears in the playoffs.

It's not a question of "letting him go", it's who offers the best location/money/term to Reinhart.
Reinhart will be near 29 years of age when the next season starts. He's traditionally a 70 point players, this season a 95 point player.
If the GMs do their traditional thing, they will overpay for a player who might be at peak, and had his best season ever. I'm not wishing Reinhart any bad luck, or his next team, but signing him long term to a massive contract just looks kinda iffy to me.
