I think we hold on to Carey's contract for the year: (1) we don't need the money now, (2) the value will be dramatically better on July 2nd 2025, when Carey virtually isn't owed anything anymore.

coyotes aren't going to take on any more contracts. they still have to hold onto weber's contract for a while

Anyways, the move to Utah is a game changer. You don't pay 1.3B for a team and then load it with dead contracts. Utah will be a force to recon with at the draft and on July 1 with their draft capital and cap room.
