No way Utah parts with Hayton for that

how is it brutal? Scored 30 goals each of the last 3 seasons playing in a boring, defensive system. I extended him. Moves Cozens to the wing where he can regain his scoring touch.

We have Kulich, Savoie, Ostlund, Wahlberg waiting, not even on the team. Quinn, Benson Peterka still on ELCs, Tage, Cozens, Tuch, Skinner all locked up.

We have 5 defensmen under contract who are all 25 or younger.

what do we need with another prospect who would be 2-3 years away? Id rather have a proven player this time

Only the Sharks deal makes sense for Buffalo IMO - along with being a proven faceoff specialist and having PK skills, speed and size, Sturm's contract is fine for a 4C and he has a Cup ring. By all accounts out of San Jose, he's been one of their lockerroom leaders.

Yeah, trading the 11th pick for a 33year old or pretty freaking dumb- and extending that guy is even dumber

And just when i thought the stupidity was over with,
we’d be bringing in a 33year old declining defenseman in addition

Idk that i can come up with a reasonable series of moves that would be worse ideas 🤮🤮🤮

Getting Sturm makes sense to me too
All these other “big” deals i keep seeing are nonsense
Total pipe dreams that just aren’t realistic at all

Value-wise I'd say the Avs likely accept. The biggest problem for them would be replacing Manson's physicality and nastiness on the back end.

Not that it's a big factor but Sturm is also familiar with Greenway (Minnesota) and Byram (Colorado).

Idk that it matters a ton, but knowing guys here will help him get acclimated quicker
