Description

What is the trade value for someone like Jake walman with a cost controlled contract for another 2yrs? While yes the wings could trade Maata, I think Yzerman can get more out of a trade from Walman. With Edvinsson making the team full time next season, Walman is nothing more than a 2nd and 3rd pair dman. Maata does just as well if not better defensively, but youll lose some goals unless moving Walman gives Seider more room to play offensively.

We still need someone to play with Seider. Maybe next season we explore this

But I would hope a first. Would love to get one more first in the teens in this draft. Who knows though.

Maatta isn’t really a Top 4D and I don’t think AlJo or Wallinder is ready for that either.

Suppose you could put Chiarot with Seider but that pairing was brutal last year. I think it’s more likely Chiarot ends up getting thrown on the right side next season.

What I’m saying is, I don’t think we can afford to trade Walman next year. 25-26 is a different story.

Nothing because Jake Walman isn't getting moved, And we're not taking picks for him either. If we move Walman it's in a package deal for an upgrade not picks.

Walman is a great 3rd pair defender.
But his contract (3.4 + 10 team NTC) is heavy for a 3rd line
I think a 3rd round pick is about what his value is.
Cost-controlled and cost-heavy aren't the same thing here.

I feel like simon and chiarot can interchange on the top pair. Walman does not look well in the top pair IMO, but i will agree he is the best option i suppose.

I'd rather have Walman than a couple picks honestly. If they moved him for a higher end player a center or another dman ok but not for parts.

Walman shouldn’t be moved unless for a significant upgrade. Look at what he and Seider did last year on an island, as well as early this season prior to injuries.

He is a good second pair D on competitive teams, but cannot sustain long durations on the top unit. To put him in the same class as Maata is a discredit to him.

Must mean Matheson is an extremely overpaid 3rd pair defenseman since their advanced stats are pretty much the same.

I wouldn't throw Simon to the wolves yet. Let him develop and work on his game a bit. Chiarot and Seider didn't make a good pairing. Chiarot belongs there less than Walman.
