Stamkos would want at least $8.5 million ($5 million after taxes) to play in Canada and have to deal with our taxes. That's the main reason he signed cheap for Tbay, because of the tax break.

Excellent point, I don't see Stamkos signing anywhere in Canada just for the very reason you laid out. If he doesn't sign with Tampa. He'll sign somewhere in the American east.
