Not saying it isn't fair to NJD, it's more so not covering a need for NJD. They need shutdown D more than scoring forwards.

If I'm being honest, he's worth a lot in signing (around the Tippett rate) and trade. The Canes just have to be judicious about where to allocate cap next year considering the pending departures and retaining Guentzel+Jarvis. It's tough to pay Necas at the purest market value and not take a significant hit on defense. This trade solves that issue.

Value is more than fair. Just not sure NJD can afford to get rid of our worst defensive dman. Maybe if we could sign Pesce away at a reasonable price (but in that case Carolina would probably just resign Pesce)
