Calgary wouldn't take Chiarot if the 2nd was going the other way. Well ok, maybe if you retain 50% too.

Not saying I disagree, but it's probably more likely that convincing somebody to drop in the mid rounds to take on Petry lol.

The 2nd on Chiarot needs to be going the other way. And even then it seems light.

No problem with being wrong if that’s the case but history dictates that teams in a bind tend to get squeezed. Teams know you’re down bad so they’re less likely to pay you what you want for your assets. Happened to Ottawa less than a calendar year ago for a recent and very close to home example.

Here's the problem... They're not in a bind.

Debrincat's a pretty ****ty example as well considering he seemingly refused to sign anywhere but Detroit.

I didn’t mean Debrincat, I meant not having any flexibility to sign Pinto for anything more than one yr at league minimum. They took Kubalik back, god knows why, maybe they thought they could flip him back out but zero takers. I’m sure they put feelers out for Hamonic, Brannstrom and MacEwen as well.

There were nights Ottawa didn’t put a full team out on the ice because they simply didn’t have the cap space to make a recall. Embarrassing.

Not saying those guys carried a ton of value heading into the season but you would think one of them would’ve warranted a late pick to see if there’s something there.

Tampa was also forced to make trades giving players away for nothing. McDonagh comes to mind. But it’s also the premise of every cap dump… you’re pressed up against it so you pay to move on from a contract to alleviate the pressure.

Depending on how Yzerman manages the deal for Seider and Raymond I hope we can at least agree that it’s a possibility someone becomes a cap dump or their value is lessened by the cap situation.
