Hard to believe Webber is better than any of the current nine Leaf Dmen now.

I mean the fact that this is even somewhat of a discussion is a bad sign for the leafs

You know Leaf fans......seems like ANY of prospects should be good NHLers this week or next October by the latest.

To be fair, Knies came in last year and did an amazing job with no NHL experience - not saying Webber should start game 1 but is it really any different?

Hardly the same. Big difference between playing LW and LD. Knies did play three regular season games before the playoffs, Webber zero.

But we're also expecting a lot less of Webber... stay-at-home D who hits/blocks shots is more straightforward than Knies who was expected to be effective on both sides of the puck in a top 6 role against a team like the Lightning.

Hits and block shots? Sounds like you don't expect the puck to be out of the Leaf zone when Webber is on the ice. There are few NCAA players who sign their first NHL contract at age 23 to ever be NHLer of any consequence. Hope your right, but sorry just because he's a Leaf prospect doesn't make him NHLer, especially two weeks after playing in the NCAA.

I saw quotes that said Webber is one of the best shot blockers he has seen since Tanev!
That is extremely high praise so there is a very good chance he will be good but might not get a shot in playoffs unless too many injuries forces it.
But next year I see him being a 7th for sure possibly even a 6th if they keep running the McCabe - Benoit pairing.
