Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald gave his end-of-season media availability today. Here are my takeaways...

1. Coach will come soon (before draft). He is not married to one style or system. He wants someone who (a) communicates well (with players and front office), (b) collaborates with everyone, (c) uses modern tools (sport science, analytics), (d) preaches and practices accountability

2. Don't expect any major changes ("wholeheartedly in this core…really believe in this group").

3. Growth = Experience. ("we are sixth youngest team"...but talked about developing right habits)

4. Experience = Consistency

5. Little things like dress code, professionalism will be more important

6. NJ is becoming a destination. Talked about how players around league want to come here.

7. No rush on UFAs. Said he expects to tender all the RFAs (unclear if that includes Mcleod and Foote"

8. He wants "hockey players" (players who play with passion, enjoy playing hockey..."Looking for guys who drag people into fight on ice, and into weight room off ice")

9. Seamus hasn't decided yet...but thinks he is leaning towards another year in college. Last spoke to him before Frozen Four.

10. Didn't seem committed to Kahkonen

11. "Momentum line" I expect this to be a focus in off-season.

Love it, although I’d hope he’ll be more open to bringing back Kahkonen.

the things im most excited to see is who mercer next contract, what holtz role is gonna be next year and if they roll those goalies.

I think the role for holtz could be anything in the top 9

Depends on fit and performance but maybe a sniper role with Nico or Hughes. Maybe a 3rd line role with vets like Haula and Palat.
