The classic 9 for 2 and Detroit passes and so does Calgary. Detroit has 0 need for a 34 year old Jacob Markstrom. And i'd rather sign one of Montour/Pesce or Roy for nothing for the 2nd pairing RHD just pay for their contract without giving away assets.

Calgary declines. It'll take more quality and less quantity. The picks are a very good start but there isn't a single player in there Calgary would be very interested in and Husso has negative value to Calgary.

Its not uncommon, a rebuilding team needs mid nhl players to help steady the team for the younger players. and the team trading for the better players needs to get rid of some of those players to make it work. they however add very little value to the trade, hence why there are prospects, nhl ready prospects, and picks to entice the rebuilding team to trade.

I have heavy doubts Yzerman would have interest, let alone be willing to pay, for Markstrom.
