He also has 1 year left and full trade protection. If you do trade him it will not get you fair value back.

If it was up to him though he would resign with Toronto, there is no reason that if they didnt trade him they would lose him in the summer

Tampa Bay probably declines. They have the same issue as the Leafs. Keeping the puck out of their own net. Giving up their best defensive D man to add more offense doesn't make a ton of sense. Rather spend $12m on Cernak and Hagel than on Marner.
