Why?

Ras and Veleno are similar players to me so the same contract seemed reasonable. Albeit Veleno’s is for 3 years instead of 5

Veleno isn't nearly as important to the Red Wings as Rasmussen is.

You're wrong.

Not saying Veleno is useless.

But Ras is a key cog for that team because he does so many things which don't show up on a scoresheet.

If Yzerman pays Veleno 3.2 mil AAV he should be fired on the spot.

Rasmussen is a one dimensional winger that would not be in the league if he wasn’t the size he is. Veleno is a 2-way center that is a year younger. I value centers a little more than wingers.

You don't seem to have any understanding of hockey value.

thats about 1 year and 1.5 million per year too much for JV

I honestly wouldnt be shocked if hes traded in the offseason.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Yzerman trading JV, feel like he would get a good return for him like he always does in his trades.

Too much and too long for Kane, too much for Joey V, rather buy out Holl and keep Copp for his defensive game and to help Kasper/Danielson as a complimentary winger who can take draws or play C in the dzone when they come up.

Berg is older than Raymond, not really a rookie/prospect anymore. He should have way more than 82 games played at this point but was kept in GR for asset management purposes.

AJ will be 24 next year, also not really a rookie, more just a prospect who's never cracked the NHL lineup. Hopefully he gets a real chance and proves to be a nice NHL DMan.

Edvinsson, I guess, will technically be a rookie, but obviously already penciled in for NHL duty next year.

So you have Mazur and Kasper, and a $9.2M fourth line.

I like Veleno (way more than Ras, actually), but he'd be lucky to get half of that.

Regardless of their ages, they are still rookies. Berggren is the only one who isn’t.

Yeah 4th line is something that should be interchangeable. Wouldn’t mind trading Veleno and throwing Fischer in the mix.

Yeah, JV I will concede on paying too much for. Kane is probably going to land around there with another team. He was a point per game player coming off of hip surgery. He’s gonna get paid. I feel like Yzerman can convince him to go lower in AAV, but we will see

according to the NHL definition, Edvinsson is no longer Calder eligible, his "rookie season" was technically this season. it's a bit dumb how they do it, but by their definition, Edvinsson is not a rookie next year

My mistake. The ole 6 games in 2 preceding seasons got me.

Zero chance of Yzerman paying Raymond $8,500,000 He won't get more than the Alex DeBrincat cap hit 8 x $7,875,000.

We're not buying out Copp for another 6 years of dead money, You seem to forget that Lalonde and Yzerman like the guy.

We're not giving up assets to move Justin Holl, A buyout on Holl is only $1,133,333 or $4,533,332 for 4 years. Still much lower than what we would be paying him for his last 2 seasons.

And Patrick Kane is probably heading to free agency, And there's no way Yzerman is giving him 3 x $7,000,000. 3 x $5,500,000 would be the very best he'd receive from Detroit.

I know you are looking for the infamous "any team" on that Holl trade.
But you should probably try a team that isn't already spending 16 million on RHD, before thinking they will take on another 3.4 for a 3RD to play 8-9 minutes a night.
You got the wrong team.
