Nashville isnt the team to spend futures for aging players. Maybe a mid to late round pick here or there but not a more recent first and 3rd round pick which is overpay anyways.

Dubas already made his offer to Jake Guentzel and it was turned down, Jake Guentzel isn't going back to the oldest team in the league.

Have you talked to KD and he said he wouldn't offer him a contract in the offseason? Have you talked to Guentzel and he said he wouldn't return to the Pens?

Yes, it's unlikely, but just because a guy turns down a rumored $50mil doesn't mean he'll turn down $60mil

There was a report that KD offered JG 7 x $8,250,000 and JG laugh at that offer.

And Carolina will re-sign JG this coming summer. JG would be crazy to sign with the oldest team in the NHL. Who'll be heading for a major rebuild in the next 3-4 seasons.

I think there is a reckoning coming here.
Jake is not a franchise level player, and paying him 10 million is the same mistake as playing marner 11 million.
I think that's going to come to a head at some point. As reality hits. Because forking over that kind of money will hurt you in the long run.
So I don't see Carolina offering the kind of contract any better than what the penguins offered. I'd say 9 is probably as high as anyone should go on him.

Pretty sure the report was $50mil total - 6x8.33. It also didn't mention any laughing. This ACGM is 6x10 - that's a significantly better offer.

You can't just say "CAR will re-sign Guentzel" as if it's a fact lol. There has been no report that he is even interested in signing there. And CAR has several guys that are due salary increases. I agree Jake back to the Pens isn't likely - but acting like it's impossible or he's definitely signing in CAR just isn't accurate
