Reworking the Dooby Doo

Description
Let's hear it.

This reeks of brilliance.

Marchessault on the 1 year overpay to see what he can do. Similar to the Bert and Domi contracts. Playing on the first line. If he delivers, he will ultimately end up with much more money than taking some guaranteed 3-4 year deal at a 5-7M AAV.

Not sure how much sense the one year deal really makes for Marchessault, even at the high AAV.

Unless he's the next Joe Pavelski, he's probably not going to convince people he's worth MORE money/term at 34 after a year in Montreal than he is at 33. So the upside for him is he secures a similar-term contract, plus the big Montreal payday. The downside is his game falls off a cliff (as tends to happen to 33 year olds, not to mention the risk of a new environment) and he no longer gets the chance at One More Big Contract, which could cost him much more than that 9 million will offset.

The hometown allure could be real, but 33 year olds should probably take term if they can get it. Seems like a Zuccarello type contract is in his future.

Add your next 10 firsts and then its a maybe lol

The Flames would never retain for that long and take a garbage contract at that for no compensation.

Put the retention on Anderson instead of Huberdeau and Calgary might consider it.

laugh Anderson is a terrible contract, but Hubby is by far the worst in the league

Or if you were smart just use the contract to reach the cap floor cause there isn't a rule that you can't be competitive with a bad contract on the books just look at Dallas.

Either way im sure you'll be objective and unbiased considering your username and comparison of Reinbacher to Josi tears of joy

You tryna cope or something? The value of a cap dump doesn't magically increase because "you can reach the cap floor". Easily the stupidest thing I've heard in a while, and u the one saying "If you were smart"

Man you really have reading comprehension issues lmao

I said we would use the contract to reach the cap floor not that his value magically increases, so basically there is more value in us to keep him than pay him to play for someone else for some trash contract and get nothing in return.

Try to use your brain and think about in what way the Flames benefit from doing the trade in this ACGM cause there isn't one.

I don't think you connected the dots here very well my friend...

You said "Add your next 10 firsts and then it's a maybe lol" Obviously exaggerating, but believing Huberdea's contract isn't as much of a cap dump as he actually is.

You then talk about how you can use the contract to get to the cap floor, and how it can still be in play with competition, indirectly significant that the player's value is enhanced due to this situation, which it isn't.

All this is to come to the point that don't start calling people dumb when you missed part of the logic.

Anyways, cheers man
