Description

The way i see it, Leon has 3 comparable players. Mark Scheifele, Johnny Gaudreau, and Vladimir Tarasenko. All three of these players are better in virtually every major category than Leon. leon should make something like 6.1-6.9M per year for 6-8 years.

RFA's have no leverage, they go to war with their team every year and they never win. if he gets more than 7, Chiarelli should be fired, regardless if hes worth it or not. RFA's should get bellow market value, UFA's value or higher.

I agree with you completely! If he wants huge money, he needs to show he deserves it. I think the sports media has aided this high request. He could sign a 6 x 6,750,000 only using up 1 year of his UFA. He can then sign a bigger contract if he's still dominating. The media is using his nice playoff run as a calculation. I don't buy that theory as of yet. If he is still playing huge, then his next contract will be 10,000,000+ Just my opinion!!

He is most comparable to Schiefs contract problem is people like drai look at contract like Paul stastny and wonder hey I'm better then him and he's worth 7 million! But I'd say drai is worth 7 million especially if it's for 8 years. Anything over 7.5 is going to be brutal

I agree with what you said. If Draistal signs for anything less then 7m, the oilers are blessed. You can add more talent, or even keep rnh, and make ur center depth the deepest in the league, giving you a extremely dangerous top 9.

I think the biggest problem comes from within and that Draisaitl just saw McDavid sign for 12.5 and he's thinking 'Hey, I put up 77 points, why should I sign for half of what he earns?'

I agree. If you add all three of those comparable players, and I even added in Monahan, they average 6.6 million. Coming from an Oilers fan, I can see how others think that Dria is worth big money. But if you sign him to more then 8 million, you've over payed. If Drai actually thinks he's worth 9-10 million, he's completely out to lunch.
