1. Lol Strome is an everyday player on every team in the NHL, Leivo is fringe on most. Why would Toronto prefer a Leivo level winger for Leivo? And why would they rather have Ethan bear than a first round pick

I'd also like that but maroon is gonna get way too much for too long. Hornquist should be a $3M player. Benson is a young cheap player with offensive up side, he can easily play with McDavid.

i think you overpaid, should have a conditional 2nd coming back if Nash doesnt resign and nothing if he does. other than that i think id rather see Strome or even Jokinen at centre than Drake, he was bad at C last year lets not revisit

BIG moves to stay under cap
wont matter.. next year is the lockout so it will be irrelevant.
yes my 14th forward and borderline 6th dman arent supposed to be guys who turn the dial.. Mitchell Stephens is also 3 years younger than gambardella so theres plenty of time to make up the small gap. you're really underrating Stephens imo. Russell is bad, hes not underrated at all, if anything hes STILL overrated despite all the controversy.

Only way it would work is if they were somehow able to flip Staal for a pick given his reduced price tag.</div></div>
value is there, but you're right, would have to have a 3 way deal in place for this to work

"Everyone is underpaid"
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>If Benning and Nurse continue to progress this season as expected, I think we might get them signed for 5-6 years between $3.5-4MM.
Caggiula's upside is something like Jarnkrok. If he does well this year I could see him netting a 6-year x $2MM contract at the most. Probably a 3-year x $1.5MM contract is more likely though. Slepyshev is in a similar place.
Strome will have to post his best season yet to get any raise at all, IMO. Up to now he hasn't got the 3C position covered properly, so he isn't worth more than the $2.5MM he's being paid.
Even if Brossoit gets 20 games this year and posts a .920, he won't be getting much more than $1MM as a young backup. The only way he gets more is if Talbot goes down with an injury and Laurent plays 40+ games at .920 or better.</div></div>
yeah but when i post those numbers i get roasted in the comments by the geniuses that believe 900k for brossoit is "grossly underpaid" and strome is gonna get Eberle money somehow

Cap Hell? LOL pt 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>
Some of that is true. But a lot of their values depend on what sort of season they put together this year - not all of them are going to break out, you know. If signing contracts today, I would say only Letestu is seriously underpaid, and his production can be replaced fairly easily. (Most of it is PP points, I'm confident that another right-handed shooter could duplicate his success.)</div></div>
i dont see why u think a 4th line centre is underpaid at 1.2M. id say thats almost overpaying considering matt cullen who is a better player, got 1M

Cap Hell? LOL pt 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>I don't think Kassian (one of my favourite players) is worth that much. Also, a Russell buyout is ill-advised; it would create a buyout cap hit of $3.6MM in 2020-21 which would be very difficult to deal with. Surely you could trade him for a 5th round pick somewhere? He's a good defenseman when playing on his natural side, moves the puck well and defends well, capable of 30+ points in a season. This past year he played mostly on his off-side - still defends well there but doesn't move the puck with the same ability. Also: he ALWAYS steps up his game in the playoffs.

Cap Hell? LOL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>You've low-balled a number of contracts. If the Oilers have a successful season this year (and I expect they will) then some of these guys will earn more money than you've allotted them. The RFA's are harder to predict, but all of the UFA signings are low, with Letestu and Stempniak taking pay cuts from their previous contracts. Not gonna happen. There will be plenty of UFA's the team can sign at lower cap hits, but these guys are all going to get more money than you've given here.
Also as side note, I read a Panthers beat writer say that the reason Demers nixed the trade to Vancouver was the tax situation. That means he'd probably refuse to go anywhere in Canada.</div></div>
i didnt low ball anyone. i gave Letestu and Stempniak 3 years at 34/35 years old, that is why the cap hits are low. as older players their job security and family security is a top priority. how does Patrick Maroon make more than 3x3? why on earth would a 2nd line centre make more than 5M. thats the precedent set by countless others in the past. Demers only has an 8 team no trade list i highly doubt Edmonton is one of the 8 teams he wouldnt want to go to considering the talent level. i think i overpaid most RFA's so if i nickle and dimed some UFA's thats where the money will come from.

fair enough, changed contract lengths - also, idk why people are down on sekera hes is the Oilers 2nd best defenseman and 5.5 isnt ridiculous for a GOOD top 4 dman
