I feel the same about Perfetti. Young guy, taken 10th overall in his draft class so if you're WPG, you want to recoup similar value. But like you mentioned, he's fallen out of favor, will get a decent raise from his ELC

Yeah I just don’t know what WIN’s needs are really, so I went with draft capitol in value. Even if the caps don’t have a player that interests them, the additional picks could help them get who they want

I think Lindholm would be a great fit. May be having a down season, but he’s still one of the top Defensive forwards in the league, great faceoff guy, versatile, and can put up points. Based on the style of play the caps played this season, he seems like a good fit

Where is Lappy? He will definitely get full-time minutes next season.

I love the Kings trade. Depends on how LA sees Kuemper, but to me, I would be totally fine for a trade like that.

A few other thoughts:
1. The Caps current roster (and this roster), they are missing a 1c. Strome did an amazing job this year, but imo, he is a very solid 2c. McM is a 3c (similar to Eller I'd say). Lappy is a 3c. Dowd is a great 4c. But that leaves a 1c out of the picture. Do you see Perfetti projected as a 1c in the near-term? Would be hard for me to see that happening...Point is - I'd rather trade for someone better (obviously easier said than done). But if you are going to give up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd....I would want someone who comes in and takes over that 1c position.
2. Would rather use the money from Lindholm for someone better. The dude was not good this year. Plus, I think he will get more on the open market (which is a mistake too).
3. I agree RHD is needed - Matt Roy would be in my hopefuls to fill that need.
4. While I do not see this happening, Miro could get a chance next year at full-time, which could save you some money (he would replace Amadio). Again, I think he could use another full year in Hershey but it is a possibility.

I think it's pretty telling that Vancouver was ready to jump ship on him at the deadline after only a month or so. He's gonna be way overpaid and has only ever put up great point totals when he was with Gaudreau and Tkachuk.

Bowness doesn't seem to trust Perfetti and his 19G and 19A. Once Perfetti went on his 10-week cold streak starting in early- to mid-January my guess is that Bowness felt that Perfetti could no longer outscore his defensive issues. I don't know if Perfetti wants out, but he doesn't have much leverage.

I don’t think Lappy fits as a 3C or 4C and his ceiling seems to 2C, and I don’t think he’s ready for that, so I think one more year in Hershey would do him well. But yes I agree they do need a 1C. I just don’t see any true 1Cs that aren’t over 30 who are available in UFA, or who wouldn’t cost Leonard to acquire via trade. So I think taking a chance on a young player that just put up close to 40 points would be solid option. Strome seems to still be improving and I think he could put up 80 points next year with more talent. Perfetti could maybe get 60 pts, CMM maybe 40-45 pts. If you had that kind of center production it wouldn’t be elite, but still pretty good.

I like the versatility lindholm brings. Great defensive forward and gave off guy. Could easily play C or wing and based on his defensive and play driving skills, I think he could be a great option to help ovi too. We all know ovi doesn’t do well in the forecheck. So getting a guy like that I think would be great. Plus he’d be awesome in carberys man on man system.

I think miro needs another year and Amadio would be a solid bottom 6 guy

So does that return seem fair for Perfetti? Any roster players on the caps that may be of interest?

I think you have to consider his defensive talent not just his point production. And VAN could’ve just been a bad fit for him, I feel like the caps system is more geared towards him

The value is probably there in my opinion but the composition might not be, as the Jets will probably want a young roster player or young almost NHL ready player. I haven't followed the caps enough to know their roster very well but the Jets will need RD, as the only NHL ones they have under contract next season are Pionk and Schmidt (plus some prospects) grimace

It promises to be an interesting offseason for the Jets. Bowness (team option or retirement); Ehlers (eligible for extension); DeMelo, Dillon, Monahan, Brossoit (UFAs to be replaced/re-signed); plus some RFAs to re-sign.

Banking on all 3 centers having career years (monster years compared to what they had in the past) is rarely a good strategy for teams to do...while those numbers aren't "out of this world", they all would be having career years, which means the Caps offense would be having a monster year, which imo, I don't think 1-2 guys could change that.

I 50% agree, 50% disagree with your thoughts on Lappy. He definitely does not fit the 4c role. I agree his ceiling seems to be a 2c, but certainly not there yet. That being said, he definitely deserves a spot next year. He jumped into play this year and put up decent production and did not seem "outmatched" by the speed/physicality of the NHL. 22 points in 51 games is pretty good - compare that to McM who had 33 points in 80 games...big difference. I have never been a McM fan (unlike most Caps fans), but I think the Caps should package McM up and try to get a top 6 forward.

I just think Lindholm is going to get so overpaid, and I don't want the Caps to be the team that falls for it.

Agreed - Miro needs another year.

When it comes to young players I like to think of it as progression compared to career years. You would expect young guys to improve on their totals from this season and if they can surround them with more talent, their point totals will go up. Being one of the lowest scoring teams in the league definitely hurt their numbers. With more talent around them i think CMM and Strome would’ve easily put up 10-20 more points alone this season.

I also am not as high on CMM as other fans, and wouldn’t be surprised to see either him or Lappy traded to bring in a real 1C. But if they did Strome takes the 2C slot and I think CMM is a better 3C

I doubt it. Caps and Jets don't look like good trade partners in terms of assets.
