I'll agree with your scenario, that maybe Hedman accepts a trade to get a long term deal from another team. But he has no motivation to "be a mentor". He'll want to play on a true contender, well if sees that as Montreal, then OK.

I mean. He will have to understand that 2024-25 is not a contending year for the Habs but maybe believe they can surprise in 2025-26 with his help?

You apparently didn't listen to Julien Brisebois and his exit presser where he stated he's already discussing an extension with Victors agent.

Honestly BOTH want to be here their whole career. The NHLPA is going to hate this but I'm guessing Stamkos comes in between 5.5-6 and Hedman around 5 on 4 year deals front loaded NMC's

I cannot see that happening. If it does, the deals will be like 8 year deals with front loaded salary.

Its been glossed over how bad of a deal that is for Tampa. Hedman would never get traded but good lord thats an awful trade proposal.
