Your right about that buddy, Nylander does not waive for Arizona, Marner is way more valuable than Sanderson and Marner does not waive for Ottawa

Cap hit doesn’t work. 12.5m would require the entire team be blown up and built around Marner. It’s unrealistic to the point that the value is irrelevant. Not about equal value.

No, he's not...

Sanderson goes down, Ottawa's got multiple guys to replace hime (Chabot, Barnstrom), Sanderson would stay as a 2nd pairing defensemen in Toronto,

Most teams don't have that luxury with Marner...

Sanderson is already better than Chabot, Branny is a serviceable 3rd pairing guy, certainly can't replace Sanderson. He's untouchable and better than the bum Riellly lmao. Marner is a great player, just not good enough for us to trade Sanderson.

Chabot is on a 48 point pace... Sanderson a 40... Branny should be able to fill a 2nd pairing role

Rielly significantly outproduced Sanderson... They are on different tiers...

So again, back to Sens fans overvaluing their stuff...

Sandy plays defence. His game is a lot more than points. Enjoy the summer, we’ll see how many “core” players make it through to the fall.

If this is a genuine question then i urge you to look up Ottawa's record when they got league average goaltending numbers, a .900 save percentage and they werent anywhere near the basement. Add an 8m centre fighting through injury just to reinjure the same shoulder. Trading Tarasenko when they realised they were out of playoff contention and having no replacement available.... the list is long.

None of the list makes Sanderson any less of a player. He passes the eye test and the analytics support his position as the teams best dman.
