Not sure how it is realistic. Why would Marner waive to Seattle? Why would Seattle give up so much for one year of Marner?

Seattle isn't trading Dunn or a first in that scenario. You have one of the most conservative GM's in the league and you expect them to give up one of their top players and a first for one year? No way.

And no way can you say Marner waives or signs in that scenario. <-- this is the exact reason why Marner gets less of a return to TML than the fans think he is worth.
