Kings Reload

Created by: Scarbs
Team: 2024-25 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: May 5, 2024
Published: May 5, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kings reload for last two years of Kopitar’s contract. Trade with Boston gets rid of PLD’s contract, addresses goaltending and adds some grit with Fredrick. King sign a big time impact player in Stamkos on a short term deal. Young guys like Turcotte and Thomas integrated into the lineup. Kings will have plenty of cap space in two years to pay Byfield, Clarke and the rest of the young guys while being able to add to the group.

Pld is useless for an 8.5 million dollar player

Nobody is going to take PLDs contract, guy is a nuisance, a hint would be that you said "get rid of"

Freddys also pretty valuable, would take quite a bit to pry him from BOS

Ullmark is very available tho

I don’t make the trade from a Bruins POV even without Frederic involved.

I would consider Ullmark for PLD@6.5 and someone like Laf. You lose your job if you trade for PLD and it doesn’t work out. I, for one, just think the 1-3-1 sucked for him, but it’s also very very very concerning how easy it is for him to lose interest and play crappy.

If it was my actual job, don’t think I could convince myself to put my job in PLDs hands.

My guess is the discussion would be PLD and a 2024 first for Ullmark. Replace draft capital and take a flyer on a young player you probably coveted when he was in Winnipeg. Immense risk because of the contract, but the likelihood PLD hits is higher in Boston and Ullmark in the Kings system is likely a Vezina contender

From Boston’s perspective, I’d rather sign Elias Lindholm and trade Ullmark to the highest bidder (my guess is NJ, Detroit, or Ottawa). If I got anything out of that last series, it’s Zacha is better suited for the wing and they could use someone like Lindholm. Not convinced that PLD is the center I target for a talent fit even though I think he can recover
