Leafs fans are completely clueless as to their situation.

You have a forward that doesn’t want to leave Toronto with a NMC. He has an expiring deal at 11M. The team is already limited by the cap hit as to who they can trade with but on top of that Marner gets to choose where he goes.

Y’all aren’t getting 50 cents on the dollar if you trade him, you’re gonna get a trade like the Hall or Tarasenko deals.

So honestly the best thing Leafs can do is not trade him.

But if you do make a trade with a team like the Ducks.
Expect to just get that EDM 1st, if that, because the second Verbeek answers the phone he knows he has alllllll the leverage and zero pressure to make it happen, as is the case with every other team that receives a call from Treliving cuz there’s only a handful of teams that are gonna be eligible.

2.. IF Toronto asked Marner about a trade, Southern California would likely be an easy sell

3. IF Anaheim recieved that call, a late 1st and Gibson would be pretty hard to pass up on unless they believed they needed Gibson to compete during his contract AND that if that was the plan, that Gibson improved those odds of competing moreso than Marner...Salary currently is not an issue..

3.. I think TML fans expecting top prospects, lottery picks or young stud blueliners for Marner are delusional.
