Additional Details:
Keep Mitchell for a year and see. Let him test free agency.
Give Robertson a restart.

Are Leafs fans delusional about Marner’s value? Is he worth more than a late first on his UFA year with a full NMC?

25g guy playing with the most prolific goal scorer in the last 30 years…. Let’s see how many points he gets on a team without Matthews. Same as how Zach Hyman is not a 50g scorer.

Your logic isn't wrong, your price is, I am sure Anderson has an up year playing with Matthews, Nylander, or whoever, I just think that this won't be close to the best bid, also doubt he would waive to go here. At the end of the day, Anderson is still a cap dump no matter what label you put on him

Why would the Leafs trade an elite winger, one of the best in the league, for a straight up awful winger and a 2nd round pick? They could get a much better return if they move Marner

Habs are retaining 2m. He is worth 3.5 if he gets back to 22-23 form and he is a big hard forechecking player who was arguably the best forward in the playoffs during our cup run. Precisely what the leafs need.

Because this iteration of the leafs doesn’t work. Because the regular season is not the objective. Because Marner is terrified of going to the middle of the ice.

I knew this site would be pure lunacy today, but this has to be the most asinine trade I have ever come across on this site...and that is hard to accomplish.

A team would need to be paid to take Anderson even with the retention, and you are suggesting he would return a 90+ point winger and another young goal scoring winger. Truly an insane level of delusion.

Both Marner and Robertson likely need fresh starts elsewhere, but they are not being moved for one of the worst contracts in the league(5.5 for another 3 years!!!) because he's a "big body".

This is most certainly not what Toronto needs as you suggest lol.

If you think Josh Anderson requires payment at 3.5m then we don’t really have much to discuss. I believe you’re wrong .

I like how you said this was a Marner proposal that actually works LOL

I'm a nucks fan and hate the Leafs, but this is straight up lunacy.

Marner an elite winger on any team and you think J.Anderson is reasonable. The guy can barely stay healthy. That's going to be a buy out contract at some point.

Elite marner with 3 points in the playoffs. He was extremely elite last night on the series losing goal and dipsy dangling around the middle of the ice doing nothing. That was quite elite.

You should change your headline title to "Marner trade that is uniquely unqualified."

Moving a 90-100 point winger who’s also good defensively for a mediocre 3rd line/average 4th line winger who’s overpaid and awful defensively and at passing doesn’t help Toronto at all

I'm a PIT fan. I'm indifferent on TOR. Marner is one of the best playmaking wingers in the world. Thinking your offer of Anderson with some retention and a 2nd is close to his value is in the HOF of ignorant trade values on this site.

What is comical is that leafs fans insist on debating the hypothetical regular season value of players instead of focusing on rebuilding their team to actually accomplish something. Hence why shanahan has struggled so mightily - let go of the theoretical asset value maximization based on inflated regular season stats playing with Matthews and go build a roster that can actually win. Mic dropped!

Bro, even at 2.75M, Anderson wouldn't be worth it with his production. He has fourth line production. That would be a very expensive fourth liner. They could find a better or similar player for cheaper in free agency and not give away elite talent.

Except Josh Anderson doesn’t help them win. He’s a bad NHL player

Josh Anderson is worse at everything compared to Marner...

Doesn't show up in the playoffs

Slow

Dumb

No heart

No defence...

He's a cap dump at this point

I have heard of them my Canuck friend.

If Shanahan is as stubborn as the leafs fan base trolling this board - which is possible - then marner will play out the year and walk to free agency, and then he will be gone for nothing. the leafs cannot resign him at 10+ and build a roster that wins. In addition, he has a full NMC - so what can he realistically return? Most of you are unfortunately terribly ill informed or illogical… this guy will not fetch more than a late first rounder. And I argue that retained Anderson is worth that if he rebounds - I concede that is debatable.
