Verbeek off marching to his own drum

Created by: GiggywithGibby
Team: 2024-25 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2024
Published: May 6, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We've assumed Verbeek might trade pics in the past, and he never has, so let's assume he's going to make all our selections in the first two rounds, here's who I think he picks.

4OA: Zayne Parekh, incredibly high offensive ceiling RHD, natural Drysdale replacement, shades of Erik Karlsson in his game. Played with Mintyukov previously on the Saginaw Spirit, Anaheim scouts would have scouted him last year too and seen his progress.

~24OA (wherever Edmonton pick is) E.J. Emery, son of a football linebacker, best defensive defenseman in the USNDP. He's thin now but has tons of room to pack onto that frame to get harder to play against. Future Mintyukov running mate.

35OA: Charlie Elick, defensively sound, big, and mean, not great offensive ceiling, but good defensively and will lay the body into crushing hits. Would be a good running mate for Zellweger.

59OA: pick a RW who fell this far, IDK who'll be around by now.

I've seen him anywhere from 33 to after 70, so I think there's a strong chance he's on the board come the mid 20s

His stock has got to be rising after U18. He was fantastic.

Don't get me wrong ANA does need a no.1 RHD.
But selecting RHD with ANA's next 2 picks after that (24 & 35) seems a bit excessive. Considering ANA already has Tristan Lenau (who we know PV is already high on) and Noah Warren, PV will probably pick a right-handed forward with one of those two picks.

I hope PV selects Dean Letourneau, as our 3/4C the guy is 6'6. Could even be our future TOP 6 RW if he pans out right.

Is he going to go RD for all three picks, probably not, but I'm gunshy of the last era of pushing for a cup, trading for a RHD seemingly every season to try and get us over the top. Having too many RHD is never a problem, if too many develop too quickly, you trade them for missing pieces.

Load up I say, load up on RHD talent. Run 5 RHD in San Diego, run 6! I don't want to be in the position where we need to sign or trade for RHD. LHD and wingers come easy, we have centers, let's erase our weakness.
