After traipsing lackadaisically behind David Pastrnak on the playoff-series-clinching goal (who would have thought that every play in overtime of a Game 7 could be critical?), I think that Marner is permanently removed from Selke Trophy consideration, but that's just me, especially since I get to see every game Anze Kopitar and the undersung Phillip Danault play.
I think that Marner is unlikely to realize the return he might otherwise deserve because most teams will be reluctant to invest in him given his negotiation history and anticipated price tag. And while acquiring Mitch Marner might well be the big splash the new Utah owner wants to make out of the gate, Smith isn't likely to risk it being a big belly-flop, so he'll be looking for favorable terms. I don't think that you're getting their 2024 first in any Marner deal, and I posted what I think is a realistic trade for him two days ago.
