lol this. I seem to be the only one who even thinks having him in a $12M deal might be a benefit to the team, and that’s not taking into account giving anything g up for him. Everyone else seems to prefer $12M of cap space to allocate elsewhere.

I think you just need a different trade partner. The reality is that regardless of what us fans think, he’s about as far from a Verbeek/Cronin style player. So there’s really just no way they’re going to trade assets for him, let alone pay him $12M long term

Sure. I think the bigger question is why Marner would actually opt for that. The only way pretty much any of these teams add Marner is if he’s willing to sign long term. But what incentive is there for him to waive, leave the city he prefers to play for, go to a team that hasn’t been competitive, and then lose the ability to test the entire market as a UFA this summer.

I feel like there’s a >95% chance he’s a Leaf following next year’s TDL, and >70% that he’s a Leaf without an extension in place (especially considering who his agent is). We’re all just gonna have to wade through a couple thousand ACGMs between now and then for sh*ts and gigs
