Description
Sptiballing some ideas to make this team a more playoff competitive team

Marner - traded to Vegas for Hill, Whitecloud, and a 1st. Hill helps the goaltending situation and brings in a recent SC winning goalie. Not sure what type of return you get for Marner with UFA a year away and teams knowing you want the cap flexibility… but this is an idea.

Kampf- move to the ducks for cap room.

Liligren and Robertson - moved to Seattle for Tanev to bring a little playoff grit to the line up

Timmons - no roster spot for him in the line up so he is moved to Chicago as a good 5-6 defenceman during their rebuild.

UFA - Domi, Bertuzzi, Edmunston and Skeji signed. First you know what you get and Skeji takes over the role of Rielly and maybe makes a Reilly a more reliable 3-4 guy…

Would still be looking to do something with 4th line but content to start the year with this one.

The picks are going the wrong way for Chicago and Anaheim. If those players aren't useful as depth guys, and you need the cap, then they're cap dumps, and you have to pay to shed their contracts. Not a ton (they're almost useful, and probably regulars in the bottom-6/bottom-pair), but ANA and CHI aren't going to do the Leafs a solid for free.

Literally flipping the picks to the other side should be just fine.

I imagine Vegas can't make that work without shedding either a significant piece, letting Marchy walk, or having TOR retain quite a bit on Marner.

Good feedback… I thought about that with the picks..

As for Marner to Vegas… I have a feeling they will lose either one of Stevenson or Marchy or both.. I considered throwing another Vegas player in over the 1st rounder… that may even out the cap concerns… if I’m going to have to eat money… another player may do that instead… but I guess depends what Vegas wants… Marner at his age make be fit over an older Marchy

Thanks !

If the Hawks are interested in Timmins they can wait to claim him off of waivers in the fall.

If Vegas does end up losing one or both of Stevenson or Marchy, they might actually be good Leafs targets...though they'll be highly sought-after, so it's probably an overpay on the deal. I'm not as familiar with their roster so I'm not going to suggest other players to target, though it does feel like Vegas is a frontrunner to get Marner.

FWIW, this is one of the more rational Leafs ACGMs, as well as one of the better Leafs rosters, I've seen on here in a bit. I think you're on the right track! It would be fun to see both Tanevs end up on the Leafs next year somehow.

We’re not trading our first. We will be making the pick inside the Sphere.
