Put on your thinking cap for a second.

What is Ottawa lacking currently?

Which kind of players are they looking for?

After answering those two questions you should realize that that trade makes zero sense for Ottawa.

Pulock, maybe. Pelech makes no sense.

They're lacking just about everything. Offense, defense, goaltending. They suck, more or less.

They need experience and defensive ability. Pelech brings them both.

They have 4 capable left-handed defensemen and only 1 capable right-handed defenseman.

They need to trade one of their LHDs for an RHD. Swapping Chabot for Pelech doesn't solve anything.

Out of those 4 LHDs all of them are more offensive than defensive. Pelech might not be the correct handedness, but he will balance that D out.

I think he makes OTT overall a better team.

I disagree, because that would force Chychrun to play the right side, thus making the team worse.

We just need a defensive RHD, its not that complicated.

Chychrun is all but gone with his statements, since he doesn't plan to stay. You don't have to worry about that. Whether he starts next year in Ottawa is another question, but it's highly unlikely that he'll finish it there.
