I would be baffled if Tavares waived to Utah. At the very least he's almost certainly not going to extend there so the value in that trade seems quite lopsided.

That is an awful trade for Seattle

If Tavares gets a 3 x $7,000,000 cap hit extension it’s going to be hard to say no to that much money at his age
Also Coyotes really needed a centre with experience to play in the top 6 that can score as Cooley needs someone playing 2C to take on the top matchup some nights because Tavares will have lots of young and skillful wingers to play with they just needed a veteran centre to help Cooley out

21M? Maybe. I'm willing to bet if he wants to stay in Toronto they could agree on a deal around 5x5, which is more money

True, but I think it’s time to recycle the Leaf PJ’s and go win at Utah that has the young players on elc’s to construct a deep team and the Coyotes aren’t trading away that much in draft capital or prospects with their stockpiles with still having 6 2nd round picks in the next 3 drafts and traded away the 2nd rounder that would most likely be almost a 3rd round pick

Lets clarify something. At 11M Tavares has almost zero trade value. We can probably call Hayton and Robertson a wash in that trade. Then we are left with Utah giving up a good young defenseman in Kesselring, a top 6 winger in Schmaltz, a cheap 1B goalie in Vejmeka, and the 2 picks on top of that for a guy who nobody is going to want to trade for without retention. Look what Boston got in return for Tayler Hall at 6M last year, 2 waiver wire players

He stills gets over 50 points a season and more likely 60+ points as a 2C or 3LW that frankly brings his credibility and experience to the team and the state as this is a young team that needs what he has to give

Schmaltz also gets over 50 points a season, is 6 years younger, has an extra year of term, and is at almost half the cap hit. The only value in adding Tavares is to flip him at 50%.

No it really isn't. There are better vet leaders on the UFA market than Tavares. Also they have vets already, including Schmaltz who is 28.

For a team that is not worried about the CAP hit JTs $900K actual salary after July 1st for a guy that can still put up 30 goals and 60+ points and leadership would be a steal

Leadership? If he was a good leader Toronto fans wouldn't be trying to dump him every other post

Leaf fans dump on their national anthem singers never mind their players for no real reason other then they play for the Leafs, why do you think not a lot of free agents want to sign in Toronto and how Leaf fans threw a party when Tavares first signed because he was the first mega UFA to sign with the Leafs in a long time
