What if Berube comes in and want Marner and Nylander traded?

Just a random thought that came to my head...

Trades
1.
VGK
  1. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
COMP: PLD trade to LAK

3rd team retains 2 mill on Marner to make the cap fit

Theodore's is this trade's Villardi
Whitecloud is this trade's Iafollo
Howden is this trade's Kupari
2nd=2nd

Obviously Theodore is better than Villardi but Marner's better than PLD

Both come with extensions... Theodore at 7.5 by 8 and Mitch at 11.5 by 8
2.
TOR
  1. Evans, Jake
  2. Xhekaj, Florian
  3. Xhekaj, Arber [RFA Rights]
  4. 2025 1st round pick (CGY)
MTL
  1. Järnkrok, Calle
  2. Nylander, William
Additional Details:
This one is the most wild to me...

MTL needs forward talent and they have an oversupply of defensemen... one name that's been circling around is Arber Xhekaj... I'm wondering whether the Canadians would be interesting in addressing their needs at the cost of sending Xhekajs+ to Toronto

Comp ROR to BUF:

Willy>>ROR
1st>2nd
Arber=Zadorov
Evans = Grigorenko
Florian = Compher

Obviously no need for extension here as Brad's already signed Willy to 8 years...
3.
TOR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (VGK)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (BOS)
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (BOS)
WSH
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
Additional Details:
COMP: Rasmus Sandin trade

There's no more room for Lilly, just like there was no room for Rasmus which is sad for me as I'm a huge fan of Lilly

This is equal in value to a late 1st, as WAS doesn't have one
4.
TOR
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (WSH)

Additional Details:

Montreal is not moving the Xhekaj's but the value favours Montreal in that offer imo. Still, don't see it as a deal that gets made.

I understand why... Would have to think that Treliving would at least inquire about MTL's Xhekajs...

I should probably swap CGY 1st for MTL 1st tbh... But thought I thought it was ironic given that was prob the pick that fired Tre...

One 2nd for Lilly is sufficient.

That trade is no where near the value of Nylander, like literally so far off, they could add Salfkovsky and they'd still be a mile away

That's outrageous tbh... I added a prospect+MTL's 1st+3rd which seems like a lot...

A late 1st Is definitely not worth two 2nd’s and 3rd .
Hopefully Washington wouldn’t do this lol

The values disagree: https://soundofhockey.com/2022/06/06/examining-the-value-of-nhl-draft-picks/

28th OVR: 158
50th OVR: 61
55th OVR: 50
81rst OVR: 21

61+50+21=132 which is 20 pts of draft value off the 28th and in line with the 32nd OVR pick (the latest 1st)

You're really over valuing the Xhekaj's

Like most teams would... Look at Zadorov via trade... Main piece for ROR

Look at the ROR to BUF comp... ROR was a 24 year old Selke caliber defensive forward... Nylander's better than ROR, but this package is better than the original one...

I'd love to add Liljegren. The Caps offer you their own 25 second, a signed Sandin jersey, and a jumbo bag of doritos. The Caps have 5 RHD under contract, giving up two top 60 picks and another top 100 pick for a position that's not a need is asinine

Probably should have said ANY TEAM tbh... As it's not for a player-specifically

As noted above, the most the caps should give up for Liljegren is a second. If the leafs can find a better trade partner somewhere else that will give what you’re hoping for, they should go there. The caps can’t afford to dump that much draft capital into a position where they have a surplus of players. RD needs to be retooled, but I’d rather look at a guy like Roy or Walker in UFA before trading and extending liljegren.

Agreed. Also dont see a Nylander contract lining up with our core either. Montreal wouldn't do this, but its a fair trade.

The only moment of hesitation comes when Montreal realizes that WiFi is going to a division rival. If Nylander were a San Jose Shark Montreal does that without delay/.

That's fair... I'm just thinking that with Zadorov going to COL to CHI and from CGY to VAN... I don't think MTL would care about value if they were to address their need for the next 5-7 years (not going to pretend 37 year old Willy's going to post up anything above 60 pts)
