Jankowski, Parssinen, Tomasino are all centers. You said they had a lack of wingers, not forwards. Not to mention Parssinen has been up and down the minors. As for L’Heureux and Kemell, they have yet to play a single NHL game… so it’s pretty hard to say they’re ready to be NHLers for next season.
It was reported a couple days ago that Nashville was interested for Marner, they’re not getting him only with Saros and one of Kemell or Tomasino. If Toronto adds Robertson to the conversation, who has scored at a really good 5v5 rate in limited minutes and still has quite some potential, it’s not disrespectful to ask for Evangelista.
For Montour, man… I’d be very surprised if he gets 7x7, I’m thinking 6.5x7 is the max he’ll get. Let’s just wait and see I guess!
Lets clarify some things. You can only run 4 centers on any NHL roster. As it stands for Nashville currently 3 of those spots are occupied by ROR, Novak, and Sissons. With no changes the 4th spot is currently held by McCarron but ideally they shift Sissons down to 4th line and acquire a top 9 center.
Tomasino has played minimal to no center since junior, he will almost certainly stay on the wing at this point. Parssinen and Jankowski can play center but again if 3 of those spots are occupied then only 1 of them can be up the middle if at all.
None of Parssinen, Tomasino, or Afanasyev should be playing in the AHL, and due to loss of waiver exemption this summer they will all be up in the big league. Robertson also loses waiver exemption this summer.
Evangelista can still be sent down but apparently Brunette really likes him. I think that will be a big reason on him being unavailable. Similarly he was less fond hence one over the other despite similar production.
So NHL rosters typically run 12 forwards and 2 rotational/scratch forwards. Along with the 9 forwards I named above Nashville also has Forsberg, Nyqvist, Glass, Smith, and maybe JAD. Totaling 13(14). Yes they would love to add Marner (I am not denying that) but they probably aren't interested in adding another winger who can't be sent down in Robertson. They especially probably aren't interested in trading their only forward who can be sent down.
If we are looking at who is and isn't available from Nashville's young players/prospects I would assume Evangelista and Askarov are off limits. They are probably pretty hesitant on Molendyk, L'Heureux, and Kemell but would be willing to part with one for Marner.
As for Montour, AFP Analytics projects him getting 8.5Mx7 so I think he gets at minimum 7M and at minimum 6 years. Hanifin just signed for 7.35Mx8, he set the market.
