I'd do it for necas if the long term deal was agreed too. Hes not really a center though.

Necas isn't a centre. I don't think we should be trading Kasper for him.

He's not good at centre which is why he has been playing RW in Carolina.

He played center but not so often in the NHL. He's on a team who's been searching for a #2 center and they don't play him there. That says a lot.

They play man to man defense which is different than every other team in the league. That could be a reason they don't play him at center if he's not great at it or maybe he's not good at faceoffs. But talent wise he's a great center. Maybe just move Copp to the wing and have him take faceoffs if that's the case. I'm not really sure why they didn't play him at center but that's his natural position.

Why not? If it Lands them a true top 6 guy they absolutely should. Kasper is looking like a 40 point guy/ good 3 lime center.

Crippling your future center depth to add a 2nd line winger is absurd lol.

Good wingers are easy to come by. Good centers aren't. And when they are, teams are fighting over them.

Kasper only go for someone whose elite, just see Kasper being to important to their future and yzerman won't want to trade him. I'm good with passing on necas if this is the price and I'm sure Steve is too

If Kasper looked a whole lot better id agree but he's hardly a can't miss prospect or someone who's a deal breaker.

Might be worthwhile trying Necas at 2C since they have the temporary 2C in Copp anyways and maybe Necas didn't workout at as a C because of CAR's system. That being said there is merit to not destroying their center depth. Not sure, what Yzerman thinks of Kasper but if he agreed with you, I think you can still say he has a good chance of being a 2C. Perhaps if they pick up a good C prospect at 15OV (won't be a can't miss prospect either most likely), then they could consider moving Kasper, but I think it's too early to move him, and Necas could probably be had for something else.

Necas can play center if we need him to. The Wings are desperate for high end talent like Necas. Kasper is projecting to be a 40-50 point 2/3 C at best. With Danielson coming we can afford to move on from Kasper. I would move him without question for a legit top 6 player that we could lock in for the next 8 years.
