Very wrong. He's start and a good one at that. When Oates came in and ruined Holtby, Grubauer put up a .925sv%.

Grubauer won the memorial cup with a great junior team. He's done poorly in tournaments with weak German international teams (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipp_Grubauer). All goaltending statistics are team statistics. But not Holtby's. Holtbeast is a walking legend, who heals the poor with a touch of his blocker glove.

Also, he's got a no movement clause, so the ball is in his court, and it's much morelikely that Grubauer can go and be a product of someone else's system. But their numbers last year were about identical with the Caps, so it might make sense to give Grubauer a couple playoff games each year, and see if he can build on his 1-0 postseason record,, if not as Holtby's undestudy, then as a trade chip.
