I think the trade in itself is pretty fair, bit of an overpay but I think it's a deal that Sakic would consider. I don't think trading for both would be a great idea, as it would put you in salary cap hell next season with new contracts needed for Stone and Turris (6M+ each), Anderson (5M+), Borowiecki, Wideman and Claesson (1.5-2M each) and just over 20M in cap space. Not to mention the next year when Karlsson's new deal will come into effect, which will likely mean upwards of 10-12M per season. Means you probably wouldn't be able to resign Duchene unless you could dump either Phaneuf or Ryan's contract, which is easier said than done.

you have 750k is cap space an no extras on your roster. You either need to move someone out or get COL to retain on one of Duchene or Landeskog.

Yeah, forgot to retain 1.5 mill from Landeskog meaning I would throw in another draft pick for the salary.

Yeah, with Ryan and Phaneuf's contract issues, moving them would be hell in more ways than one. Both have NMC and NTC which handcuffs Dorion. I don't think Wideman or Boro will be back the following year because of the amount of young D coming up (even though I traded what I consider to be the next 3-4 defenseman in Ottawa). Anderson, I have a feeling, will either retire or move on from Ottawa. As much as he has had success in Ottawa, he won't be getting 5 mil from an Ottawa (over 35 years of age and would want a 2 year deal). I agree with the Stone and Turris contracts but I have a feeling Stone will sign for less because he's proving to be inconsistent offensively and is less proven than Turris (who could get north of 6.5 to 7 million depending on the season he has... damnit Johansen).
