Might work - Soderberg and Hagelin both had off years , Hagy is more likely to recover because he is younger, the retained amount makes Soderberg's salary right.
Only question is - why do people want to put a guy that won 60% of his faceoffs at left wing?

Because the top 2 center positions are taken and the 3rd and 4th need to give up their body to play defense, and you don't want to pay $6m dollars trying to play on broken foot or with a broken hand. He can also take the face off and move to wing ... not uncommon for a center to get waved out of the face off circle.

I love Bonino but he was a crazy man with blocking shots, I think in part because he was kind of slow footed. I checked the blocked shots stats for centers and he was one of two (Getzlaf) that averaged more than one a game. Most centers get by with one every two games or two every three.

Not just blocking shots. Playing the body, colliding with other teams best players, taking slashes and cross checks, etc. from angry offensive players. Dump and checking defensemen, forechecking, spending more time on the PK and less on PP or 5v5 to recover. Using their energy and body to keep the other team off the board rather than pushing to producing offense.
