Description
Pouliot and Girgensons swap allows positional needs be filled as well as two prospects in additional orginizations to find their groove. Botterill liked Pouliot in Pittsburgh and I don't see that changing. Will Butcher is signed as a free agent to replace Pouliot in the depth charts. The ability to sign Girgensons and Butcher only happens if cap is moved out, and Hagelin is the obvious name. Edmonton would love this addition to bring scoring and speed depth to their team, as well as providing some penalty killing upside. Slepyshev comes back to Pittsburgh to fill the LW depth winger need. A second round pick is included as well to head to Edmonton. The Hagilen trade I am worried about because I wasn't sure of Slepyshev's value.

The Girgenson's trade looks ok to me.
The Hagelin trade probably doesn't work because the Oilers are in cap hell next year

What about for value wise? I can see the Hagelin trade may be troublesome for cap reasons, I mean that's why the Pens would get rid of him too.

He is young and is supposed to be big and fast, but his offensive numbers haven't been good at any level. Could work as a straight cap dump but I think the draft pick is too much.

Hagelin is worth more than Slepyshev. I'd think the deal would be more like Hagelin for Slepyshev and a 3rd or 4th.

Where is Scott Wilson? He's got another year to RFA, put up 26 pts, and I don't see him in your trades. Did you put him in the minors? It would make more sense to slot him in LW over Archibald, who could share some time with Reaves. Kuhnackle also plays LW so you could just move him over rather than including him if BUF doesn't absolutely want him, and he's done well on the PK, with similar size, etc. I think Kuhnackle needs to play this year. He put up good numbers, including hits, his skating and size a solid, etc. I know he's had injuries.

Butcher has been said to not want to spend any time in the AHL. I don't think PIT can commit to that.

Wrong Butcher's agent said Buther wants to be developed properly in the AHL over the next year or two and not just thrown into action.

Archibald is there to replace Hagelin's speed and forecheck game and fill in for the PK. Wilson is good I agree, however he had a goal every other month basically which isn't a great statistic. Kuhnackl I like as well, but won't see icetime, we have to many other young wingers coming up
