I can't see Nylander getting that money. And the Leafs can't afford JT, when Matthews and Marner, Kapanen need deals the following year. Fact is, the Leaf don't need Tavares, would be nice ,but certainly money could. be spend elsewhere.

Yeah, tend to agree with Pal. I would hope that the Nylander contract would be sub $7M! While I am a huge JT fan and would love to see him in the blue and white, I am not sure that 2 years down the road he is the best fit to be our #2 center! And I'll ask you this one simple question: If Tavares, are you prepared to move either Marner or Nylander going forward? IMO, one would have to go!

It's an awesome looking lineup, if only it were possible...
A couple of years ago I would have killed to see Tavares on the Leafs. But now it just doesn't seem possible under the cap with the three rooks due to be signed in the next couple years.
I agree that Nylander would cost less than $8.5M, probably in the 7M range.

Doug in 2019 the Leafs are worried the Arizona is going to offer 14m for Matthews. Leafs solution. Buy the Coyotes for 300m, move then to Seattle , build a new arena. Total expense for the 1 Billion. Hey but the Leafs get sign Matthews for 12m. How do the owners of Leafs (Bell and Rogers) pay that 1 Billion. Easy you will note it on your telecommunications products billing
