TOR Rental

Created by: jeg5393
Team: 2017-18 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 28, 2017
Published: Aug. 28, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Toronto trades 2 guys that are on their last year and they need to open up cap for the beginning of the season. they pick up a gritty winger that fits a babcock style player (lower on the skill end but servicable) and a #4 dman and a few picks. Who knows what toronto will actually want but this would fit the needs of pit. If this isnt enought there is still plenty to offer in the form of prospects like archibald, kuhnackl etc.

That seems like an overpayment for 2 guys that Pittsburgh likely wont resign. I feel like Maatta could get both by himself, especially with young defenseman at a premium. As for getting Bozak and Komorov, i dont see the point. Everyone wants Bozak because of chemistry with Phil and how he fits the need, there are better and cheaper options out there. At some point you may be able to land him for a pick because of Toronto's cap situation.

I'll post on every post that somebody tries to send Bozak to Pittsburgh because of "Kessel-Bozak" history: Kessel and Bozak had a bad falling out in the last year Kessel was in Toronto, to the point that Bozak kicked him out of his condo.

As far as the trade, Toronto doesn't have a real need for Maata since he's a lefty and we need rightys and also the need for a long term D has really passed, but I don't know what Lam is thinking, and moving both Bozak AND Komarov removes our proven center (who can notch 45-55 points on the 3rd line) and one of our grinders who could have replaced Bozak at center if we were to trade him. We don't have enough center depth to trade Bozak away without getting a center back who can play in the NHL this season, and no, Toronto isn't interested in prospects anymore.
